Showroom Assistant Furnishing Fabric Showroom – Vacancy Filled September 2021

Tinsmiths is an independent retailer of textiles and home furnishings established in 2004. Alongside our large range of fabrics and homeware, we also supply handmade bespoke curtains and blinds. Over the past year the business has grown and we have established a new warehouse to process all our orders. We are now looking to open a new furnishing fabric showroom where our customers can view our extensive range of furnishing fabrics.The Job will involve working in our new fabric showroom to assist customers with fabric choices for furnishing projects and taking orders for fabrics. The role would also entail advising customers about bespoke curtains and blinds and ensuring that they order the correct specification for their requirements.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To make customers feel welcome in our fabric showroom.
  • Assist customers in their choice of fabrics and furnishings.
  • Calculating fabric requirements.
  • Taking customer orders for fabric.
  • Taking customer orders for bespoke curtains and blinds.
  • Maintaining up to date product and pricing knowledge.
  • Ensuring that the showroom is always looking at its best.
  • Ensuring that the showroom has suitable samples and other sales material.
  • Processing the customer orders that you take to ensure that they are fulfilled promptly.
  • To follow up on quotes and deposits with colleagues and clients.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • An understanding of furnishing fabrics. A knowledge of rub tests, FR regulations and other technical aspects of furnishing fabrics would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of curtain and blind styles. An understanding of the handmaking techniques involved would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and interpret customer requirements.
  • A good eye for colour and ability to put fabrics together in simple schemes.
  • Committed to excellent customer service.
  • Good basic maths to work out fabric quantity requirements.
  • Competent in use of email and Windows Office

Hours: 4 days per week. Wednesday – Saturday (32 hours/week) Rate of pay £16,950 – £22,000 depending on experience.
