This will be an exciting exhibition of textiles, slipware, pargetting and jewellery inspired by the Herefordshire School of Romanesque Sculpture. With work by Emma Carlow, James Burnett- Stuart, Sarah Burns, Ed Hill, Desdemona McCannon, Bill Sargent, Clare de la Torre and Jen Whiskerd.
Believed to have received their initial training at Hereford Cathedral, the Herefordshire School of Romanesque Sculpture created an incredible body of carvings between c.1134 to 1155, with the most amazing examples still in existence across the county today. Full of intricate knots and tendrils, religious icons, beasts and bawdiness, there is much to be inspired by – as our exhibition artists will reveal.
