To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Tinsmiths we are presenting ‘Brass Boots & Papercut Pigeons’. A celebration of folk art featuring both antique folk art pieces and those of contemporary artists whose work is influenced by folk art. At the forefront of this exhibition is the work of Mark Hearld who has made a series of vibrant collages which are framed be original antique folk picture frames from the collection of Phoebe Clive.

Working with the potter Paul Young, Mark has also made several large pottery pieces hand built in Pauls Station Yard, studio. This has been the happiest of collaborations with a joyful series of Hounds and Fowls being the outcome.

Another very successful collaboration for this exhibition was between Mark Hearld and Jonny Hannah who worked closely with Martin at Tilley Printing to produce the exhibition poster. For this very special poster Mark prepared all of the paper with a paste paper finish, making every poster unique.

The Tinsmiths team are excited to show such a superb selection of Marks work, it represents months of work for Mark and shows how successful the collaborative approach of Mark can be. Many of the collaborations in this exhibition can be found in Marks book Raucous Invention; The joy of Making
