American Patchwork Quilt – QU04
£810.00
Original, patchwork quilt top made C.1915 from America.
Antique and one of a kind, this quilt top was in excellent condition when purchased by Tinsmiths but had never been made into a quilt. It is pieced with repeated patchwork blocks in tones of russet, buff, grey and pink. This quilt has ‘lattice’ design with the lattice sections all made in an extremly pretty fbaric with a tiny leaf pattern.
It has been made into a quilt in 2024 using 100% organic cotton batting. The new backing is a soft 100% cotton in buff and the edge binding a soft grey cotton. The edge binding has been handsewn to bind the edges and the machine quilting is in an all over meander style. This process gives a fresh new quilt with all the subtlety of the antique fabrics by using an heirloom patchwork top.
This quilt is in near perfect contion, there are some minor areas of discoloration consistent with the heritage and handmade nature of the item (please refer to photographs).
