Accounts Assistant – Part Time/Job Share (Xero)

Hours: 22.5 hours with a high degree of flexibility – more hours/full time considered
Salary: £14.50 – £16/hour dependent on experience

Summary of Role
We are looking for a member for our small team based in our Ledbury warehouse in the accounts office as an accounts assistant. This role offers the potential for a high degree of flexibility as a job share or we would consider a candidate wanting a full time position.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the transition from Sage to Xero.
    • Taking care of administrative tasks, maintaining accurate digital and physical financial records.
    • Daily reconciliation of bank statements, card processing and PayPal statements and identifying discrepancies.
  • Assisting with quarter end VAT and year end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
    • Ensure that all customer accounts queries passed on by our Customer Service team are responded to promptly.
  • Preparing and entering Journals onto the system.
  • Monitoring and analysing financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Issue trade invoices promptly.
  • Liasing with payroll provider and entering wage journals.
    • Present data on request from Sales and Marketing teams to gain insights to drive change.
    • Consider ways our accounts operations could be improved to improve customer experience, drive productivity or increase profit.

Skills

  • A good working knowledge of Xero, Excel & Microsoft 365
    • Good knowledge of bookkeeping procedures.
  • Familiarity with finance regulations
    • Good grasp of numeracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential material.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proactive attitude, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and software.
