Date: 22nd May – 13th June 2026
Venue: Tinsmiths Homeware Shop, High Street, Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 1DS
An exhibition of ceramic tableware pieces by Herefordshire maker, Stuart Houghton. Open Tuesday – Saturday, 9.30am-5pm.
Recognisable for its clean lines and beautiful shapes, Stuart’s work in porcelain is elegantly understated. His throwing ability and attention to detail makes for tableware which is not only very attractive but incredibly usable too. Tinsmiths began showing Stuart’s work in 2008, and are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase his pottery once more.
Based in Herefordshire, Stuart began his making career in the 1960’s as a student at Birmingham School of Art. After a break of 35 years to concentrate on his gift manufacturing business, Stuart returned to making his own studio pottery in the early 2000’s. Eventually setting up a studio in Ledbury. For a number of years Stuart worked with Gloucestershire potter, Fleen Doran, to develop a range of hand thrown porcelain domestic pottery for home. Now, despite threatening to hang up his potter’s apron, Stuart continues to work on a smaller number of projects and exhibitions from his home studio near Much Marcle.
