Jack Welbourne
Inspired by East Asian and medieval English pottery, Cardiff based Jack Welbourne throws stoneware pieces for the table using locally sourced clay and wood ash. Adding a contemporary twist through mark-making, form and application of glaze.
James Burnett-Stuart
James Burnett-Stuart takes influence from his Herefordshire surroundings for his hand-thrown, hand modelled earthenware. Simply scalloped or fluted and subtly decorated in light colours, James’ work is suitable for everyday use.
Emma Carlow
Emma Carlow is Sussex-based, multi-disciplinary artist whose creativity is research based. Emma’s collection of clay whistles for Tinsmiths has been inspired by the carvings of the Herefordshire School of Romanesque Sculpture.
Edmund Davies
Edmund Davies is a studio potter based in Norwich. His practice revolves around the production of beautiful, functional ceramics – made both on and off the wheel. His work takes influence from historical ceramics, contemporary design and the material properties of clay.
Bill Sargent
Bill Sargent is one the UK’s highest regarded pargetters. Bills work can be seen in Suffolk, Essex, Kent and Norfolk, covering most types of conservation plasterwork and pargetting. Bill’s career began in Suffolk in the 1960s, following his father into the family business and continuing a tradition of conservation plasterwork and pargetting begun by his grandfather in 1926.

RAMP Ceramics
RAMP stands for Roop and Al Make Pots. A long-term creative partnership between Alice Hartford and Roop Johnstone. RAMP produces thrown Earthenware and Porcelain with intricate and playful slip decoration. Roop throws the pots whilst Alice focuses on decoration.
Stuart Houghton
Stuart Houghton’s work could be described as elegantly understated. His throwing ability and attention to detail makes for tableware which is not only very attractive but incredibly usable too. Based in Herefordshire, Stuart began his making career in the 1960’s as a student at Birmingham School of Art. He has been showing his ceramic work at Tinsmiths since 2008 and, more recently, his wooden chopping boards and table stands – for the multi-talented Stuart is also an accomplished woodworker.
Kat Wheeler
Cornwall-based potter, Kat Wheeler originates from Knoxville, Tennessee. Her work has been influenced by her Appalachian roots and a period spent working at the Leach Pottery near St.Ives. Kat’s wheel-thrown pieces are utilitarian and decorative, made from grogged terracotta clay. Each piece is decorated with layered slips using a variety of techniques which include hakeme and scrafitto, to create bold shapes and interesting textures.
Sophy MacKeith
Sophy MacKeith makes handmade ceramics inspired by French and British pottery traditions. Her joyful, distinctive style brings colour and character to both decorative pieces and functional pots, creating work unique to her.
